What you can make

Real things creators do with WayFinder

Tell it what you want in plain English. It handles the nodes.

Rescue a workflow you downloaded

"This workflow won't run — what's wrong?"

WayFinder reads your canvas, finds the missing model or broken node, explains the error in plain words, tidies the tangle into something readable, and tells you exactly what to install. Go from "downloaded JSON that errors" to a working result — without trawling forums.

Before / after coming soon

Pick the best take — video and audio too

"Which of these two clips has less flicker?"

Run two versions and type /compare. Video gets two synced players with a shared transport, frame-step and a same-timestamp frame wipe; audio gets a synced A/B player; generated text gets a side-by-side word diff. Then /analyze writes the critique — keyframes and motion over time for video, a transcription for audio, specificity and prompt adherence for text.

Before / after coming soon

A week of on-brand content from one idea

"Make 7 posts from my brand character — one per day, in my colors, square for Instagram."

WayFinder locks your character and style, generates the whole batch in one approval, and labels every result. Because the settings live on a node, next week is a reload with new themes — not a rebuild. One idea in, a week of consistent content out.

How It Works

From install to creating in minutes

01

Install it into ComfyUI

Join the beta to get your code and the download. Unzip it into ComfyUI's custom_nodes/ folder and restart ComfyUI. WayFinder appears in your sidebar.

Install screenshot
02

Enter your beta code

The sidebar asks for the code you got when you joined. WayFinder checks it with our site once, then works offline. One code covers two computers.

03

The setup wizard walks you through the rest

Pick your AI — your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini key, or a local model through Ollama, LM Studio or vLLM — and hit Test connection to prove it works. Then switch on only the extras you want: audio transcription, long-term memory, MCP agent tools, video analysis or a ComfyUI GPU host. Every step can be skipped, and you can re-run the wizard any time from Settings.

Talk to your workflow

Type what you want in plain English. WayFinder reads your current graph, figures out what to do, and makes the changes — explaining as it goes and asking before anything risky. For large projects, switch to Architect mode and hand it the whole objective; it plans the stages, gathers your inputs up front, and builds each piece as an approved block.

Features

Built to get the picture out of your head

Every tool here leads with what you get to make. The node wiring happens underneath — you stay in plain English.

Build

Build it by saying it

Describe the picture you want and WayFinder assembles the right workflow for you — no node hunting, no wiring. Talk to it like a colleague: ask it to add a step, swap a model, or explain what something does, all in plain English.

  • Adds and connects the right pieces from a plain-English description
  • Swaps models by name — no menu-digging
  • Checks the prompt fits the workflow's model type (text-to-image vs. image-edit vs. inpaint) before it tweaks anything
  • Explains any part of the graph in words you'll understand
  • Attach images, text files, or URLs directly to your chat message for context
  • Adapts how technical it is to your skill level — more plain English for new areas, fluent ComfyUI speak where you're already comfortable — and learns as you work
  • Write and format WayFinder Notes with a full visual (WYSIWYG) editor — bold, lists, links, headings, and more — or switch to the raw HTML view for precise control
  • Type / in the chat input to open the slash command menu — instant shortcuts for saving, running, comparing, analyzing, grouping, duplicating, explaining, and more. Use /explain for an end-to-end workflow explanation, /explain_node to explain any single node via a searchable picker, /sweep to propose a quality-improvement sweep, /sweepset to run all variable sets in one approval, /memory to view and edit what WayFinder remembers about you and your workflows, or /reportcard to view and adjust your skill profile. Use /new to start a fresh canvas in one click, /save to save over the current file, or /saveas and /duplicate to branch into a new copy while keeping your original open

Every node gets a name you can point at

WayFinder gives each node a short, stable tag such as (KSM.01) at the start of its title. Replies, change summaries, errors, run progress and notes all point at exactly the node they mean — no more "which KSampler?".

  • Tags in the chat are clickable: one click centers the node on the canvas
  • Type /ref to pick a node and drop its tag into your message
  • Tags are saved with the workflow and survive reloads, renames and undo
  • Documentation notes end with an index of every node and connection

Subgraphs and a reusable module library

Package part of a workflow as a subgraph, save it to your encrypted library, and reuse it in other workflows through the WayFinder Subgraph node. In Architect mode, each stage it builds lands on your canvas as its own subgraph, tagged so you can find it again.

A setup wizard that proves it works

Pick your AI and hit Test connection for a real round trip before you commit — it won't let you leave with a dead key. Then switch on only the extras you want: audio transcription, long-term memory, MCP agent tools, video analysis or a ComfyUI GPU host. Skip any step, re-run it from Settings, and never hand-edit a config file.

Fix

Untangle any workflow you downloaded

Open someone's messy graph and WayFinder lays it out so you can actually read it — clean columns, labeled group boxes with color-coded nodes by function, fewer crossed wires — then explains what each part does and notes what it needs to run. The auto-group tool draws boxes around same-function clusters (loaders, samplers, VAE, output…) while keeping any groups you already made. Add force to wipe everything and regroup from scratch.

Run it and watch — WayFinder catches the errors

It runs your image, tracks the progress, and reads the result. When something fails, it translates the cryptic error into plain words and tells you how to fix it — instead of leaving you staring at a red node.

Nothing you can't undo

Every change WayFinder makes is reversible with one click, and it always asks before doing anything risky — installing, downloading, or restructuring. You can also pre-authorize trusted action categories (like "always run workflows on this canvas") so routine operations never stop for a card.

Revert / approval card coming soon

It checks before it runs

WayFinder flags missing models and unset settings before you waste a render, predicts whether your GPU can handle the job so you avoid out-of-memory crashes, and checks that your prompt actually matches the workflow's model type — image-edit workflows expect a short edit instruction, not a full character description — before tweaking values. It also works out which model family your workflow is built on and warns when a LoRA, VAE or ControlNet looks like it belongs to a different one. For video, /vram scales its estimate by the clip's frame count.

Pre-flight check coming soon

Vary

Make 50 versions without rebuilding 50 times

Set up your variations once — colors, poses, prompts — on a single node, and WayFinder runs the whole batch in one approval and labels every result. You can also pick an image from your personal asset library as a variable value. Because the settings live on the node, every saved image remembers exactly how it was made, so next month is a reload, not a rebuild.

  • Navigate between sets with ◀/▶ buttons directly on the canvas node
  • Run all named variable sets in one approval — or pick exactly which ones to queue
  • Browse your other workflows and import any of their variable sets — no copy-pasting needed
  • Pick a library image directly as an IMAGE-type variable value
  • Rename any variable key — WayFinder updates it everywhere (every set, the type map, display order, and seed mode) in one step, so nothing gets out of sync and canvas wiring stays intact
  • Change a variable's type safely — WayFinder checks every existing value first and reports any incompatibilities before committing
  • Version history — every destructive edit takes a snapshot of your sets first (the last 20 are kept), so you can list earlier versions and restore one
  • AUDIO and VIDEO variables take clips from your asset library, just like IMAGE variables
  • Use the SEED type for KSampler seed variables — set it to random, fixed, or increment and WayFinder resolves the right seed value on every run automatically, without you editing values between runs
  • Duplicate a workflow with /duplicate — WayFinder writes a copy under a new name while you keep working in the original, and automatically forks its variable sets so the copy is fully independent

Match a pose or a reference in one sentence

Drop in a reference image from your asset library and say "use this pose." WayFinder wires up the pose, depth, or composition control for you, adds sharper upscaling, and fixes faces — the setup that normally takes a whole tutorial to get right.

Compare versions side by side — drag a live wipe slider

Run a settings sweep, then ask WayFinder to "open the compare view" — or type /compare in the chat composer for an instant overlay with no agent turn needed. A fullscreen overlay shows a thumbnail strip of all your results. Drag the ⇆ wipe slider left and right (or top to bottom — switch the orientation in one click) to reveal any two results side by side. Scroll to zoom in up to 6× — the zoom anchors to your cursor so the detail you care about stays in frame — then drag to pan. Both layers stay perfectly aligned so nothing shifts as you move the slider. No images go through the AI chat; everything loads instantly. Inline chat images also have a one-click zoom, download, and "add to library" action right on the hover bar.

  • Thumbnail strip — click any result to assign it to slot A or B
  • Draggable wipe slider with vertical or horizontal orientation
  • Synchronized zoom (up to 6×, cursor-anchored) and pan across both layers
  • ✦ Analyze A vs B — clicking Analyze submits just those two results to WayFinder for a written verdict; the result appears directly in chat
  • Analyze all N — send the full sweep to the AI for a set-level review
  • Each analysis result includes an Ask a follow-up button — click it to open a dialog and drill in with another question without leaving the chat
  • /analyze slash command — skip the overlay and get a written AI evaluation of your most recent outputs in one keystroke

Beyond images

Audio, video and text — not just images

WayFinder works with everything your workflow makes. Generate audio, video and LLM text, then compare and critique it the same way you would an image.

  • /compare is media-aware: images get the wipe slider, audio gets a synced A/B player, video gets two synced players with a shared transport, frame-step and a same-timestamp frame wipe, and generated text gets a side-by-side or inline word diff
  • /analyze transcribes and critiques audio, gives video a keyframe and temporal critique (motion coherence, flicker, consistency over time), and evaluates generated text for specificity, prompt adherence, redundancy and safety
  • Variables take AUDIO and VIDEO clips picked from your asset library — for example the driving clip of an img2vid or video-to-video run
  • LLM nodes in your graph are first-class: see the generated prompt inline, count its tokens, and trace which LLM node feeds which text encoder

Store

Your personal image library — organized and encrypted

We include a private, encrypted asset library for all the images you collect: ControlNet references, img2img bases, character sheets, texture sets. Browse, search, and filter by tag, portfolio folder, date, or file size. Import an entire folder and WayFinder automatically categorizes it — a controlnet/ subfolder becomes the ControlNet category, and subfolders become tags. Duplicates are skipped automatically.

  • Encrypted at rest — your images never leave your machine unprotected
  • Two modes: server-stored (accessible across sessions) or browser-only (nothing leaves)
  • Pick a library image directly as a variable value — no manual file path hunting
  • The IMAGE picker also has Output and Input tabs — browse ComfyUI's own output and input folders and select images directly without importing them into the library first
  • Chat images get a one-click "add to library" action, right on the hover bar
  • Zoom and download any chat image with one click
  • Select multiple images at once and move or delete the whole batch in one action
  • File finished renders straight to your portfolio with the WayFinder Portfolio node — auto-categorized and registered in your library, even for headless runs and agent-queued batches
  • Works alongside the variables node — IMAGE-type variables store asset IDs, not fragile file paths

See what's eating your disk — and clean up safely

The model manager shows how much space your models take, which saved workflows and templates use each one, and which aren't used by anything. Before anything is deleted you see the exact files, the space you'd get back, and every workflow that would break — and nothing is removed until you confirm.

Learn

Learn by doing, inside your own canvas

A patient tutor (Comfy U mode) builds the example with you and explains every choice — no separate course, no tab-switching. It even pulls its own reference images so you're not hunting for files. And it adapts its explanations to your level: deep dives where you're a beginner, short-cuts where you already know the terrain. WayFinder tracks your skill level across seven ComfyUI topic areas and updates its language register automatically as it learns from you — so explanations always land at the right depth, whether you're in a lesson or just asking questions. You come away knowing ComfyUI, not just holding a finished workflow.

Plan a big project, approve it step by step

For a character sheet or a full product line, WayFinder proposes a staged plan with a risk register and a decision-point map, you approve each stage, and it builds them one block at a time. Save the plan to your library and re-run it later — a studio-grade pipeline that comes back, not a one-off. See how it scales →

The WayFinder Essentials course and lesson packs

New to WayFinder? In Comfy U, ask "teach me how to use WayFinder" for ten hands-on lessons: the sidebar, modes, slash commands and approvals, the WayFinder nodes, the asset library, compare and analyze, memory, permissions and Architect. Lesson packs on image foundations, control and editing, Flux, upscaling, and video, audio and 3D track your progress, and each lesson opens its workflow in a new tab so yours stays as it is.

Discover

Find the right model or style — then add it in a click

Search for models, styles (LoRAs), and add-ons across Hugging Face, Civitai, and the node registry — results ranked by popularity and freshness so you pick something well-maintained. WayFinder even tells you what a model is for before you use it.

Search / install screenshot coming soon

Power users: WayFinder is extensible via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so you can connect your own external tools and data sources.

For when you grow

And it scales when you're ready

Start by describing one image. When you're running a whole product line or a studio-grade character sheet, the same assistant plans and produces at scale — you just approve the steps.

Architect mode — plan a big project and approve it stage by stage

Hand WayFinder a whole objective — "a character pipeline: face, body, 10 angles, 5 outfits × 3 hairstyles" — and it asks its setup questions once, proposes a staged plan with a risk register and a decision-point map, and builds each stage as an approved building block. You review before it moves on, and it picks up right where it left off if you restart. Save the plan to your library and "Open in Architect" anytime to re-run the whole pipeline from scratch — no re-authoring.

  • Surveys what's installed first, then designs the best approach — not just what you already have
  • Chooses between horizontal (layer-by-layer) or vertical (validate the riskiest chain on day one) build order
  • Gathers all your inputs up front with one adaptive form — follow-up questions only when your answer changes the design
  • Records a risk register and de-risking spikes so you know what might go wrong before committing to a full build
  • Builds each stage behind the scenes, checks it's valid, and lands it on your canvas as one tidy block
  • Stops for your approval at every stage — reject to revise, approve to advance
  • Saves plans to a library; re-run any saved pipeline with one click from the Plans Library
  • Survives a restart — resume exactly where you left off

Batch production that remembers itself

Variations live on one node, so a batch of on-brand outputs is one approval and one run — and every saved image embeds the exact recipe that made it. Run all named sets in a single click with no repeated approval cards. Next month's run is a reload with new themes, not a rebuild.

  • One-command setup from any set of variations — ready to wire, no manual rewiring
  • Run all named variable sets in one approval — or pick exactly which ones to queue
  • Import sets from any of your other workflows with one click — no re-entering
  • Convert old {{token}} workflows to typed variations automatically
  • Rename any variable and WayFinder updates it everywhere — every set, the type map, display order, and seed mode — in one step, so existing connections stay intact
  • Change a variable's type safely — WayFinder checks every existing value first and reports any incompatibilities before committing
  • Navigate between sets with ◀/▶ buttons directly on the canvas node
  • Up to 20 variations per node, including image inputs from your asset library
  • Use /duplicate to write a copy of the current workflow under a new name while you keep working in the original — variables fork automatically so the two files stay independent

Pre-authorize what you trust, block what you don't

Tired of approving the same "Run workflow?" card twenty times? The Permissions system lets you set trusted action categories to "Allow" — they run automatically with a slim confirmation line — and block categories entirely with "Deny." Change your mind at any time, globally or per-workflow. WayFinder itself cannot grant permissions without your explicit approval.

  • Nine categories: run workflows, edit the graph, install models, control the server, and more
  • Two scopes: this workflow only, or everywhere
  • High-risk categories (install, server control) require an extra confirm before "Allow"
  • Managed in Settings → Privacy or by asking WayFinder directly

Beta feedback

Tell us what you think

Beta feedback shapes the release. Tell us what works, what's confusing and what's missing — rough edges and bug reports included.

About the beta

Everything included. Free for 60 days.

Use all of WayFinder while we get it ready for launch, and tell us what to fix. You bring ComfyUI and an AI; we bring the rest.

Everything is included

Every mode, tool and feature is switched on for every tester. No tiers, no limits, no card.

60 days, one end date

The beta runs for 60 days from launch day. Everyone shares the same end date, so the sooner you join, the longer you get.

500 places

Signups close at 500 testers, with one code per email address. Each code works on 2 computers.

What you need

A working ComfyUI install and an AI: your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini API key, or a local model through Ollama, LM Studio or vLLM. Checking your code needs the internet once.

What it costs

Nothing. "Free" means WayFinder itself: if you use a cloud AI provider, you pay that provider for what you use, at its own rates. A local model costs nothing extra.

What happens after

The release ships and you install it over the beta. Your beta code becomes your free key, and your conversations, variables and settings stay on your machine for the release to pick up. The release has a free tier and an optional Pro plan, priced at launch.

FAQ

Common questions

What's in the beta?

All of WayFinder: the Assist, Architect and Comfy U modes, building and fixing workflows, variables and batch runs, compare and analyze for images, audio, video and text, the asset library, the model manager, and the WayFinder Essentials course and lesson packs. Nothing is held back.

How long does it run, and what happens at the end?

60 days from launch. In the last two weeks WayFinder shows a reminder in the sidebar. When the beta ends, the beta's assistant stops and asks you to install the release. ComfyUI keeps working, and so do your saved workflows — including WayFinder's canvas nodes.

Do I lose my work?

No. Your conversations, variables, plans and library stay on your machine, and the release picks them up where the beta left off.

Do I need to pay?

No. WayFinder is free during the beta and there's no card to enter. If you use a cloud AI provider, it charges you for its API at its own rates; a local model costs nothing extra.

What do I need?

A working ComfyUI install, an internet connection once to check your beta code, and an AI: an Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini API key, or a local model through Ollama, LM Studio or vLLM.

How many computers can I use?

Two per code. Moving to a new computer? Remove WayFinder from the old one in its settings to free the slot.

How do I give feedback?

Email support@aardvarksoftware.com. Bug reports, rough edges and ideas are all welcome — beta feedback shapes the release.

Is my data private?

Yes. WayFinder runs on your machine, and your library and conversations are encrypted at rest. The only thing it sends to our site is the code check: your code and a hashed machine ID when you activate, then a daily status check with your build and code ID. Your chats go to the AI provider you pick, not to us.

What if I lose my code?

Your code is shown once, right after you register, so save it somewhere safe. If you lose it, email support@aardvarksoftware.com from the address you registered with and we'll look it up.

Does WayFinder work offline?

After the one-time code check, yes: point it at a local model through Ollama or LM Studio and it runs without the internet. Cloud providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini) need a connection, of course.

Can I use my own API keys?

Yes — you bring your own API keys. WayFinder never stores them on our servers. Keys are saved locally in your ComfyUI configuration file.

Can I break my workflow?

No — every change WayFinder makes is reversible with one click, and it always asks before doing anything risky like installing or restructuring. You can also pre-authorize categories of actions you trust, so routine runs never stop for a card.

Can it teach me ComfyUI?

Yes — Comfy U mode builds an example with you on your own canvas and explains the why behind every step, pitched at your level. The WayFinder Essentials course teaches WayFinder itself, and the lesson packs track your progress as you go.
